Join Blake Rudis and Hudson Henry
on this FIVE day photography and
photo editing workshop.
Photographing Oregon’s Northern Coast Workshop
This part of the United States offers some of the most diverse and beautiful landscape that you will find anywhere in the country. One minute you might be shooting rays of light shining through the dense pine tree forest and then in the next few minutes find an amazing little waterfall to shoot. With the majestic beauty of Haystack rock just a short walk from our rooms, you will surely capture great photos of this amazing rock with a beautiful sunset behind it.
During this workshop, you will have dozens of chances to capture amazing landscape, old buildings, sunsets, waterfalls, lighthouses and much more. Blake and Hudson will take you the best spots to take photos, helping you every step of the way to make sure that you get the photo that you are looking for.
While you are on this workshop with us you will learn lots of editing tips and tricks about shooting your photos, various processing techniques with both Photoshop and One1 PhotoRaw. Every day you will get small group instruction on processing your photos from one of the two instructors, teaching you the skills you need to improve your post processing.
I feel like I progressed several levels in my photography and photo processing during the workshop, both in the field, in front of the screen and in casual conversations with Blake and Jake.Kay Brewer
Meet the Instructors
Blake is a self-published author and the host of f64 Academy. While his focus has been strong in HDR photography for the past five years or so, he is most passionate about post-processing images in Photoshop and mentoring others.
Blake takes great pride in his Fine Art background. From Acrylic and Oil Painting to Printmaking and Sculpture he has had his hands in just about every art form. This has been paramount in shaping his ideologies on Photography and Post Processing. For Blake, it is not about the act of photography, but the artistic process as a whole.
Hudson’s passion for creating dramatic still and motion imagery is infectious. In addition to his adventure, travel and expedition field work, a growing list of commercial clients rely on Hudson’s unique ability to produce stunning, ultra-high-resolution work in the most demanding of locations and conditions. Panoramic merger composites, 360 degree images, and time-lapse video are all long-time technical specialties. Underwater photography and video work are Hudson’s most recent endeavors.
Hudson is also a teacher and a people person. He spends a great deal of time writing articles, producing teaching videos and designing training programs to help fellow visual artists not just increase their technical skills shooting and editing, but also to develop their own distinct creative vision. Hudson finds this time coaching other photographers incredibly rewarding.
The daily critique sessions were invaluable in learning how other photographers interpreted the same locations.Steve O.
The critique sessions were so very helpful in helping me improve my photography. I have all of you to thank for that. Blake is a skillful instructor who makes learning a pleasure.Bill M.
Both Blake and Hudson are post processing masters and are here to share what they know with you. Make sure you take part in every post processing session to get the most out of this workshop.
When we are shooting Blake and Hudson will be right there with you, ready to help you get the perfect shot, answer all your questions and are just fun guys to hang out with.
Our instructors have spent countless hours shooting in this area. They know the best spots, when to shoot them and how to get the shot you are looking for. We don’t worry about a bit of rain either, a bit of rain can be very dramatic.
We would love to meet you, get to know you and find what you expect from this workshop. For us, this is an important meal as it will most likely be the first time we actually meet face to face. This meal is on us at a great local restaurant, so please make sure to join us.
We always make sure we have lots of extra bottles of water, healthy snack, and some fruit available during our shooting times. This way you won’t have to stop to find a snack or water.
What’s Not Included
We can recommend staying at Inn at Haystack Rock, Inn at Cannon Beach, or The Wayside Inn. Or feel free to find any other hotel in Cannon Beach.
Airfare to Portland is not included. We provide all transportation to and from the Portland airport. If you fly in early and are in a hotel in Portland then you will just need to let us know and we can pick you up at the hotel. If you choose to fly into another airport you will need to get yourself to the condo for the workshop.
We all like to enjoy an adult beverage from time to time. You will have to provide your own adult beverages, due to what my insurance says. That being said we will take you as needed to the store to pick up the beverages of your choosing.
We carry event insurance for each and every workshop we do. But it doesn’t cover dropping your camera or anything like that. We highly recommend that you carry insurance on your gear. Travel insurance isn’t that expensive and well worth it if something were to happen. World Nomads is a great choice but there are lots of them. If you want to know who we recommend send us a message and we can give you a few that we know of. But our recommendations are based on our research and by no means the only choices.
Anything not mentioned as included with the trip is not included. If you are wondering if something is included please ask us before signing up for a workshop. We want to make sure that everyone has the best time we can provide and the best way to do that is through open and clear communication.
This was a great atmosphere and relaxed setting which made it very nice for learning and comprehending every thing that Blake showed us to improve our photography. I hope to do another Adventure with Blake and Jake sometime in the future.
